One of the things they don't tell you about DJing is that doing it right requires more than just dropping bangers and mixing in clean transitions — being good at this requires empathy. Whether I'm DJing for a wedding or a club, the dance floor needs to be a shared experience and that means understanding the energy of the room and matching it. While I'd love to subject everybody to my favorite deep cuts, first and foremost, I want every party I DJ to be memorable for how the music selection perfectly honored the vision of the occasion.
